One of the most notable safety issues when using electric detonators as detonating materials in mine blasting operations is the accidental explosion of electric detonators. The cause of the electric detonator accidental explosion, in addition to violating safety regulations or misuse, the majority is caused by stray current. For example, in February 1976, Yanbian and Long Colliery accidentally exploded as the two leg wires of the detonator hit the track and the ground of the work surface, respectively, at gunfire. During the period of November-December 1980, when the Yangxi coal mine in west Beijing opened up the shaft, the electric detonator exploded unexpectedly twice due to stray current in the wellbore. In 1975, Siwangzhang Coal Mine in Guangdong borehole excavation construction, but also due to stray current induced electric detonator explosion.
