Objective To evaluate the effects of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) on cardiac function and angina pectoris in patients with chronic occlusive disease (CTO). Methods Eighty-two patients with chronic occlusive disease confirmed by coronary angiography were enrolled in this study. There were 57 males and 25 females, with an average age of 67.3 ± 11.6 years. PCI was performed to revascularization, and clinical, electrocardiogram, echocardiography and BNP were performed before treatment and 1 year after treatment to evaluate the changes of cardiac function and myocardial ischemia. Results Compared with those before PCI, the frequency of angina pectoris, the changes of ST segment, the ejection fraction, the CCS and the NHYA grade in ECG lead were significantly improved. Conclusion PCI can improve the angina pectoris and cardiac function in patients with chronic occlusive disease and improve the quality of life.
