Objective To study the association between the polymorphism of low density lipoprotein receptor (LDLR) gene PvuII and myocardial infarction (MI) in northeastern China, and to analyze the relationship between the levels of lipids and lipoproteins. Methods PCR-RFLP was used to detect the polymorphism of LDLR gene in 41 patients with MI and 67 healthy controls. Results ① There was a significant correlation between P-P gene status and high LDL-C and TC levels in the MI and control groups, while P + P + genotype was associated with lower TC and LDL-C levels. ② The relative frequency of P-allele in MI group was higher than that in normal group, there was a significant difference between them. ③ The levels of serum TC and LDL-C in MI group were higher than those in control group, there was a significant difference between them. Conclusion The study confirmed that the polymorphism of LDLR gene PvuII site can affect serum cholesterol levels, and is closely related to the occurrence of MI. The polymorphism of the PvuII locus in LDLR gene can be used as a genetic marker to predict the occurrence of coronary heart disease.
