Preface As the complexity of the flight environment increases, so does the need for on-line assessment of cognitive workloads. Previous studies have shown that some neuropsychological tests, including EEG (cognitive activity) The changes are sensitive so that the operator’s condition can be monitored unobstructed during the flight. The purpose of this study was to test whether the EEG topography is sensitive to changes in the pilot’s psychological requirements as they relate to a particular flight phase. Methods Seven National Air Guard C-130 pilots participated in the test. When the pilot completed the simulation flight, the 29-channel electroencephalogram was continuously recorded. Corrected EEG
