伴随着技术的进步和经济的发展,网络技术的应用在生活中越来越广泛。网络教学的出现和发展完善是很有意义的尝试。许多高校引入了公选课的网课教学,而这些尝试中,最有突破性、创新性和革命性的就是英语的网络教学。英语学科在大学中的地位十分特殊,它的意义不在于了解这门学科本身的知识,而在于扩展学生视野,让学生有能力自主学习外国的知识,锻炼学生与外国人的交际能力。部分学校的英语网课尝试已经取得了一定的成功,它较好地提升了学生的学习自觉性
