近代以来,随着铁路网络的形成与铁路运输业的发展,山西开始逐渐摆脱腹地交通对区域城市近代化的桎梏,1907年正太铁路的通车以及1933年同蒲铁路的分段运营便充分展现了铁路与太原这一内陆省会城市工商业以及城市结构变动等方面的关联作用。山西城市格局也呈现出沿铁路线分布的特点,城镇等级体系更趋完善。从更宽阔的视野来看,以太原为集中地,以正太铁路、同蒲铁路为运输路径,以沿海商埠为指向的晋中区域近代化进程明显加快。
Since the modern times, with the formation of railway network and the development of railway transportation industry, Shanxi began to gradually get rid of the shackles of the hinterland traffic on the modernization of the regional cities. The opening of the Zhengtai Railway in 1907 and the phased operation of the Tongpu Railway in 1933 fully demonstrated Railway and Taiyuan, an inland capital city, as well as changes in industrial structure and city structure. Shanxi city pattern also showed the characteristics of the distribution along the railway line, the town hierarchy system more perfect. From a broader perspective, the process of modernization in Jinzhong region with Taiyuan being centralized, using the Zhengtai Railway and Tongpu Railway as the transportation route and the coastal commercial ports as the point of departure has accelerated noticeably.
