The mutual penetration and interaction between the contemporary international economy and international politics have become increasingly evident. The impact of international trade on international conflicts is also becoming increasingly important. This paper examines the mechanism by which international trade affects international conflicts. The basic conclusion is that trade can reduce the conflict between the initiating country and the target country and at the same time that trade can reduce international conflicts better under the conditions of globalization. The empirical analysis based on the panel data of Asian countries from 1991 to 2000 also proves that international trade indeed has a significant diminishing effect on international conflicts and can promote international cooperation.
