On August 13, 1847, King Louis-Philippe of France decided, on the advice of Foreign Minister Gizo, to appoint Galilee as his Imperial Pre-Qin Chinese translation on January 1 of the following year. However, at the time, France was not frequently engaged politically or commercially with China. Why did not there be a need to set up a Chinese-translated position in Paris that was too expensive for a salary? The author analyzed a batch of French original materials and the Sino-French “Whampoa” Treaties ", the analysis of several incidents of negotiations such as the ban on Christianity, and that these appointments were due to the careful design of Galileo himself.
