1927年大革命失败后,司徒乔带着他的画作《有所问》离开了武汉,来到了上海。当时的上海是处在革命失败后的繁杂之地,各种主义、各种思想在交织着。听着各种声音的司徒乔,既感到了迷茫,又似乎看到了希望。他在日记中这样写道:“我认识了命运的威严,在以往,它不让我依靠学校,不让我依靠立体派、未来派、印象派和最时髦的Valori Palastici等流派……看来我的园地不在汉口、南京、上海、苏州、杭州,也不在欧罗巴洲……我的园地就在我脚下那
