21世纪的中国近代史研究应该如何深入发展 ?这是一个回顾与前瞻性的交叉问题。回顾 ,乃是对 2 0世纪的中国近代史研究历程进行学术盘点 ;前瞻 ,则需展望中国近代史学科在新世纪共同的学术追求与发展趋势 ;交叉 ,是在“瞻前顾后”的基础上提出近代史研究深入发展的具体路径。《史学月刊》作为一个专业性刊物 ,责无旁贷 ,愿意为大家提供一个讨论平台。为此 ,本刊特组织“2 1世纪中国近代史研究走向”笔谈 ,邀请国内中国近代史学界不同研究方向、不同年龄层次的学者结合各自的研究领域探讨这个问题 ,旨在凝聚共识、寻求突破。参加本期讨论的既有老一辈历史学家 ,也有活跃在学术界的中青年学者。这七篇笔谈构成一篇大文章 ,见仁见智 ,大处着眼 ,小处着手 ,或从宏观上探讨新世纪近代史研究境界的追求、学科品位的提升、学术发展的趋势 ,或具体入微 ,分析过去研究中的弱点、盲点 ,提出对新世纪近代史研究深入发展的看法。这些观点或许能对新世纪中国近代史研究的深入展开提供一些启示 !当然 ,一期笔谈难竟其功。我们也深知 ,由于学者的研究领域不同、观察问题的方法不同 ,这个问题也许不可能有一个大家所公认的结果 ,重要的是通过笔谈能引起学界对这个问题的深思 !我们不追求结果的圆满 ,只追求过程的深邃。因 How should the study of Chinese modern history in the 21st century develop in depth?
