Peta Khanov’s wife, 30-year-old Dasa died. Six months before her death, they were divorced; but as always, they still lived together. They have no children. Dasha was fragile and had a wise doctor say: “If she had a baby, she would have no choice but to save her life.” Petya Titov, a fit and proper woman, did not believe in any disease and therefore often glanced at his wife. However, he loves her ghostly smile, loves her light and slim figure and her tranquil and submissive whisper. He, an ordinary metallurgist, married an educated and working wife in a library, a marriage which made him feel quite satisfied.
