沈小彤总是出乎于我们的意料,1989年刚刚毕业于四川美术学院的他,对自由的绘画创作满怀希望却又被当时的社会文化变革所深深地影响,在这种冲撞下构成了一个极不容易被定义的沈小彤。1991年第一次进入国际艺术市场,是在美国加州亚太美术馆所举办的亚洲与太平洋洲“我不想和塞尚打牌”的展览期间。身为一个年仅23岁的年轻艺术家,能够参加如此高级别的学术展览,对于他的天赋由此可见一斑。
