如今电影市场的竞争愈加激烈,一部英文电影要在异国土地上取得成功,实现其文化或商业价值,电影片名的翻译必须引起重视。由于中外语言习惯和文化背景的差异,好的片名翻译不能只是简单的字面翻译,而要综合考虑影片的内容、隐含的文化思想、风格特色等。本文从功能论视角出发,通过对比中英电影片名的特点,探讨英文电影片名翻译的原则和策略。
Nowadays, the competition in the movie market is more and more fierce. An English movie needs to succeed in the foreign land and realize its cultural or commercial value. The translation of the title of the movie must pay attention. Due to the differences between Chinese and foreign language habits and cultural backgrounds, a good title translation can not be a simple literal translation, but should consider the contents of the film, implicit cultural thoughts, style characteristics and so on. From the perspective of functionalism, this article explores the principles and strategies for the translation of English movie titles by comparing the features of the titles of Chinese and English films.
