20世纪初,当摄影技术尚处在黑白单色调时,一张手绘彩色玻璃幻灯片,再现人物和景观的真实色彩,这是否带来炫目的视觉冲击?一位美国社会学者—西德尼·甘博拍摄的1917-1932年间的民国老照片(包括首次展出的部分彩色玻璃幻灯片),于2014年6月11日在上海市档案馆外滩馆展出。这些手工上色、质量精良的彩色玻璃幻灯片,将百年前遥远的斯人斯物变得生动形象,宛若可以触摸般亲近。在上海市档案馆与美国杜克大学图书馆合作举办的《西德尼·甘博的中国之旅》展览上,杜克大学图书馆中国研究馆员周珞女士向笔者介绍:“透过甘博的镜头,可以回溯上世纪初中国社会
At the beginning of the 20th century, when a photographic technique was still in monochrome black and white, a hand-drawn stained glass slide shows the true colors of people and landscapes. Does this bring a dazzling visual impact? An American sociologist, Sidney Old photos of the Republic of China (including the first stained glass slide show) from 1917 to 1932 taken by Gambo were on display at the Bund Center of Shanghai Archives on June 11, 2014. These hand-colored, high-quality stained glass slides make a vivid image of distant Persian objects a hundred years ago, as if they were touch-friendly.
