桃树结果早、丰产、好管理。果实营养丰富、外形美观,是群众喜欢的果树之一,加工制罐后是国际市场上受欢迎的食品。发展桃树对供应国内市场和出口换汇均有一定意义。我市桃树面积不大,产量不多;且品种古老,成熟期又多集中于七、八月份;加工所需黄桃品种还不能大量投入生产,这均与国内市场供应和出口需要有很大距离。为丰富我市桃的品种,改变品种布局,扩大种植面积,增加果品产量,提早和延长果品供应期,我们从1975年进行了以早熟品种为主的早、中、晚熟相结合,鲜食和加工品种相结合的引种筛选试验。已引进国内外优良品种(或品系)140多个,并筛选出一批适合我市
