李占洋的作品一直充满争议,不论是对社会现状的描述或是雕塑的情色题材。就像李占洋的作品《租-出租院》的“租”一样,中国一直在租别人的艺术,李占洋在做中国特色雕塑,具有中国特色,描述的中国社会。他的作品有很强的现场感和故事感,因为它的作品都来源于生活,来源于现实,每个人的记忆,他默默的关注着社会。现在的很多作品往往会更注重作品的形式而忽略了它的本质和内容,而他的作品虽然,大多数从外表看起来不好看,很丑,但却让人能从镜子中看到了自己,都是生活中丑陋的一面。
