陈此生《〈高作后四十回批评〉之批评》刊登于1923年1月第2卷第10号《半月》杂志上,该文从文本内证出发,对俞平伯《高作后四十回底批评》一文所列《红楼梦》前八十回与后四十回的二十条矛盾处提出反证、予以辩难。该文是目前能见到的较早对胡适、俞平伯“高鹗续书说”和自叙传说的矛盾和不足处提出质疑的研究文章,作者态度严谨,持论较公允,对“高鹗续书说”的一些例证和观点提出了启发性意见。作为新红学初创时期一篇目前学界尚未注意的论文,《〈高作后四十回批评〉之批评》的学术价值应予关注。
Chen “The Critique of Forty Backs Criticisms” is published in the “Half Moon” magazine, Volume 2, January 1923, which starts from the text and testifies to Yu Pingbo’s “ Criticism ”a“ Dream of Red Mansions, ”the first eighty back and after forty back to the twenty contradictions proposed counter-evidence, to be defended. As an essay on which no one in the academic circle has paid attention at the beginning of the new learning of Hongxue, the academic value of the Criticism of Post-High Criticism of Forty Backs of Criticism should be noticed.
