“,”Necrotizing enterocolitis(NEC)is the most common gastrointestinal disorders in neonatal period. It has high morbidity and mortality. Its etiology and pathophysiology are still unclear.Current studies suggest that tight junction proteins of claudins contribute to the pathogenesis of NEC and may be useful in diagnosis and preventing NEC.Studies find that proteins of claudins have been identified as biomarkers for early diagnosing NEC and that expression levels of claudins correlate with severity of NEC.Recent work has showed that interventions of claudins could help preventing NEC.In this article, the tight junction proteins of claudins and its advancement in NEC are reviewed.
