The City in the Sea is one of the short poems of Edgar Ellen Poe, whose poem is known for its fantastic mood and horrible gloom. In this poem, the use of fantasy is fantastic and lingering, and often leads critics to find it difficult to find its texture in the face of such a mysterious and mysterious spirit, thus resolving the connotation of the poem. In this paper, I try to Freud’s psychoanalytic method of criticism embedded in structural analysis of structuralism, the “city in the sea” for an in-depth analysis, and then reveal the “city of the sea” is different from Ellen Pointing to other poets and points out the author ’s deep concern about the origin of life implied in the deep structure of “City in the Sea” - that is, breaking through the silent rhythm of love.
