1992年我得到5株高矮不等的对节白蜡树桩。桩材清秀,枝条分布均匀,特别是桩体靠近根部的枝条粗壮有力,根须四面辐射,是制作丛林式盆景的佳材。在制作中,我保留了全部枝条,并分别将所有的枝条剪去2/3,形成了过渡枝。先在沙床中养护,每天喷水3~5次。半月后抽出新芽。当年7月就上了盆,并摘去全部叶片,放在荫棚中生长一周,逐渐转入正常管理。1993年春换盆后,用动势盆景的造型方法作了初步蟠扎。1996年春在贺淦荪老师的亲临指导下,将5株树桩组合在90cm、长40cm宽的汉白玉腰圆水旱盆中,并选用了本地的一种粉白色小块岩石组合、配景,重新在每一根枝条上进行蟠扎、修剪。枝条的蟠扎都是向右方发展,但并不是直接向右拉,而是先向左拉,然后才向右,即称之为“回旋式”造型法。这样,造型较生动活泼,有立体感。1997年春,笔者又换了一个较大的汉白玉盆,生长半年后,摘去全部叶片,重新修剪后摄影,取名《寒林清源》(见图1)。
