读名人传记,常感到造化弄人。有的人,命运真是出奇的好,一辈子就像一件件好事都在前面等着他;有的人,命运好像专门跟他过不去,意想不到的倒霉事都让他碰上。每想到陈寅恪与钱穆两位先生,这种感觉就特别强烈。同是大师级历史学家,年龄仅相差5岁,且社会提供的历史机遇也大致相同,其命运的好坏却判若云泥,真是不能不叫人感慨唏嘘。在中国,就家学渊源、学问渊博与通晓语言文字种类之多,综合而论,能赶上陈寅恪的怕是还未有,谁会怀疑他在未来的学术研究上,不会有惊人的大成
