The decline in age-adjusted mortality rates attributed tocardiovascular disease (CVD) has been characterized asthe success story of the past four decades, worldwide. Inthe United States, a similar downtick has been recordedsince 1978. The rapid progress in the fields of preventionand management may be responsible for this promisinglandscape in the CVD spectrum (1).
