美国著名记者、作家埃德加·斯诺一部《西行漫记》打开了世界了解中国的窗口,成为国外有关中国共产党情况的最早最详尽的报道,它向世人讲述了中国共产党人的斗争情况,打破了国民党长年的新闻封锁。读过这部名著的人,一定会记得那张机灵可爱的小红军“山西娃娃”的照片,还有那段关于“山西娃娃”的描写:“他是个圆滚滚的胖孩子,长着一张娃娃脸,只有十二岁,但他已经能够自己照顾自己了。……我向他问为什么当红军,他回答说:‘红军为穷人打仗,是抗日的,谁不想当一名红军战士!’”
