蔬菜根系间的有益真菌可使根系吸收养分的面积增加4~5倍。这类真菌在土壤中是普遍存在的,但在土壤消毒后几乎都被杀死。土壤中磷浓度过低时,根系无法吸收磷,这类真菌可帮助根系吸收磷。含磷量很低的土壤,种植受有益真菌“感染”的作物2~3茬后,就不再缺磷了。目前人们尚无法大量提供这类真菌,但是,若把植株先种在含有这类真菌的土壤内,再移植到消过毒的土壤中,受这类真菌“感染”过的植株就能承受移苗时造成的损伤,且在天气干旱后,根系恢复生长也较快。这类真菌能产生甘露醇,从而抑制了植株中酶制造不溶的碳水化
