大运河,是中国东部平原上的古代伟大工程,隋朝大运河以洛阳为中心,南起杭州,北到涿郡(今北京),全长2700公里,纵贯在中国最富饶的东南沿海和华北大平原上,通达黄河、淮河、长江、钱塘江、海河五大水系,是中国古代南北交通的大动脉,也是世界上开凿最早、规模最大的运河。后经元朝取直疏浚,全长1794公里,成为现今的京杭大运河。举世闻名的京杭大运河,是世界上开凿最早、最长的一条人工河道。
The Grand Canal is an ancient and great project on the eastern plain of China. The Sui Dynasty Grand Canal centered on Luoyang, Hangzhou on the south and Guyi County on the north (now Beijing), with a total length of 2,700 kilometers, running through the richest southeast coast of China and On the Great Plains of North China, accessible to the Yellow River, the Huaihe River, the Yangtze River, the Qiantang River and the Haihe River are the major arteries of the ancient North-South traffic and the earliest and largest canals in the world. After the Yuan dynasty dredging straight, a total length of 1794 km, becoming today’s Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal. The world-famous Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal is the earliest and longest artificial channel in the world.
