有些人认为发动机冷却水应经常更换,以减少结垢和防锈,是没有科学依据的。恰恰相反,经常更换冷却水只会加快发动机冷却系统的结垢,同时也没有防锈作用。其主要原因是发动机冷却水大部分使用的是自来水,而自来水是硬水,硬水里含有很多的矿物质,如碳酸镁、碳酸钙、硝酸盐等。这种硬水,经过发动机工作时的加热,就会使水中的矿物质沉淀(结垢)到冷却系水套内,加热的时间越长,水中的矿物质沉淀就越多。所以经常更换新的冷却水,只会使冷却系增加
Some people think that the engine cooling water should be replaced frequently to reduce scale and rust, there is no scientific basis. On the contrary, regular replacement of cooling water only accelerates the fouling of the engine cooling system and there is no rust protection.
