Hammer-the-ball is one of the more technical projects in track and field that originated in medieval Scotland. From the late nineteenth century onwards, the sport became a competition for the University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge games. As the sport progressed, people continued to make improvements in throwing equipment and throwing methods, changing the original wooden handle to a steel chain for the sake of throwing, thus resulting in the name of the hammer device. With the widespread development of the sport, the sports organizations and institutions concerned have also gradually introduced uniform rules in respect of competition rules and venues and equipment to reflect the fairness of the competition. For the Olympic Games, the men’s hammer throwing project is 100 years earlier than the women’s hammer throwing project. The men’s hammer throw was included in the Olympic Games in 1900 and the women’s hammer throwing project did not officially become an Olympic event until 2000.
