Objective To investigate the effect of asphyxia on gastric electrical activity in neonates by electrogastrogram. Methods Fifty asymptomatic newborns and 20 normal newborns were tested for gastric electrical activity at 30 min before and after feeding using a portable electrogastrograph (EGG) recorder manufactured by Sweden CTd-synec-tics Company , The use of computer EGG Version 6.4 software analysis system analysis of data. Results Of 70 newborns, 39 cases (56%) were successfully recorded in EGG. Compared with the control group, the mild asphyxia group had a significant increase in the percentage of gastric motility (<2 cpm) before feeding (7.0 ± 6.8 and 4.7 ± 5.4), with significant difference (P <0.01). Severe asphyxia group compared with the control group and mild asphyxia group: the percentage of normal slow wave before and after feeding was significantly lower (P <0. 01), the percentage of gastric hypersensitivity (> 4 cpm) was significantly increased (P <0. 0 1 ). The main power frequency instability coefficient (DFIC) increased (P <0.01). Conclusion EGG can be used to study the gastric electrical activity in neonates after asphyxia and then to study the motility of the digestive tract in neonates. Neonatal perinatal mild asphyxia neonates have increased gastric motility before feeding and normal asphyxia neonates before and after feeding The percentage was significantly lower, the percentage of gastric hypersensitivity increased significantly, suggesting that neonatal asphyxia perinatal emergence of milk, bloating, vomiting and other symptoms may be related to abnormal gastric electrical rhythm.
