The Japanese invaders declared their surrender on August 15, 1945. I flew back from Kunming on August 19 that year after a long absence from Shanghai, the first plane that Japan flew back to Shanghai after surrendering. Because of my work in the U.S. military, I got this rare opportunity. Comrade Huagang, who led me in Kunming at that time, was in late May of that year and asked me to use the plane of the U.S. military to go to Chongqing to see Comrade Wang Ruofei, the leader of the CPC, once in Chongqing. If Comrade Fei Fei had already estimated that the Japanese aggressors would soon declare surrender, they had a brilliant analysis of the post-surrender situation of Japan and a clear instruction on how Shanghai’s underground party should meet the situation. If Comrade Fei Fei wants me to use my position, I will fight for the first U.S. military
