端节,水族人民又称“借端”(“借”水语“吃”的意思)、吃端、过瑞,是贵州省三都水族自治县、都匀、独山、荔波等地水族人民欢庆团聚、辞旧迎新、庆丰收而举行的节日。水族历法一年分为十二个月和春复秋冬四季。阴历的九月为其岁首,阴历的八月为其岁尾。水历十二月(农历八月)第一个亥日起,至水历新年二月(农历十月)期间,主要以亥日,亦有以午、未、申、酉、戌日为端节的节期,按古老惯例分地区、分期分批轮流过节。各地所过的亥日不一样,如三都水族自治县的内外套以第一个亥日为节日,水龙地区过第二个亥日;恒丰,三洞地区过第三四个亥日。
