近十年来，贵州省民宗委将平塘县作为扶贫开发工作联系县。不断加大帮扶力度，投入大量的人力、财力和物力，千方百计帮助平塘县改变贫困面貌，加快了平塘县基础建设的步伐，少数民族贫困群众的生产生活条件得到了明显的改善，帮扶工作结出了累累硕果。
