本期发稿的时候,江浙两省产米区域正闹螟灾。据报载浙江嘉兴某乡,经民众动员捕螟,一日之间,就捕到螟卵几万堆,现苏南各地警报频传,情形之严重,已与嘉兴相若。尚不急谋扑灭之法,将眼看青苗枯萎,今年粮食问题势必更要困难。几十年来,我国人苦天灾人祸久矣,最近饿殍遍地,尚未能完全克服困维,倘再继以虫荒,真将使民无噍类。按用化学品以治虫害,可说是一种最重要的方法,所以在这里特地将几种重要的治螟药物,简略的加以介绍。救灾如救火,希望国人惕于虫害的严重,大家想出主意,协助农民,用最迅速最有效的方法,把这种害虫澈底扑灭。
