袁征博士的《宋代教育》(广东高教出版社出版)是一部扎实、深刻而可读性很强的佳作。一个与众不同的显著特点是,此书并非泛泛通论宋代教育,而是抓住了学校课程和教材、学生的考试和升级、教职员的选任这三个最重要的基本制度,进行深入的研究,显示出作者求实钻研的态度和独到的眼光。如此重要的教育制度的论题,过去竟没有人作过专门研究,甚至没有注意!作者将宋代教育的研究大大推进了一步,其研究方法和角度的创新,为其他断代教育史提供了良好的借鉴。本书的另一特色是以点带面。 Dr. Yuan Zheng’s “Song Education” (Guangdong Higher Education Press) is a solid, profound and highly readable masterpiece.
