地方志是一种朴实,严谨的资料书。因此,把资料比做志书的灵魂并不过份。能否编出一部符合时代要求,反映地方志特点的新志书,首先取决于入志资料的数量和质量。就《乌苏县志》的编纂工作来说,首先要熟悉乌苏,了解乌苏、认识乌苏,吃透县情的方法很多,但概括起来,不外两条,即明代学者顾炎武所倡导的“读万卷书”和“行万里路”。“读万卷书”,就是查阅档案,博览群书,收集文字资料;“行万里路”就是实地采访考查,征集实物,搜集实访资料。
