小足球运动,出现于20世纪20年代的上海,并很快成为风靡一时的一项群众性体育运动。它不同于正式足球比赛对场地、人数、时间的强制要求,以其灵活、方便的游戏规则而被广大足球运动爱好者所接纳。在诸多回忆民国体育运动、体育课程教学的文章中,都能见到有关小足球运动的记事,但一直缺乏相关的研究。本文从上海通志馆的《民国上海市通志搞》手稿和其他若干回忆文章中,对沪上小足球运动的发展过程进行粗梳,希冀引起相关体育爱好者和运动史研究者共同的注意,从民国时期的“小足球热”了解当时群众性体育娱乐活动的发展。
