From traditional Chinese architecture to modern Western architecture, interior and exterior often produce distinctive differences in design techniques and styles. The interior is subject to living and use functions, often with a square layout, while the outdoor façade and even the garden where the building is located present a personalized, curvilinear or ideographic character. The contrast between internal and external forms is the charm of traditional Chinese architecture and gardens, and is also a reason for the contradiction and emergence of post-modern western buildings. Analyzing this phenomenon from the perspective of dualism in Chinese and Western philosophy, we can see that the comparison of the internal and external forms of modern architecture is the inheritance of the historical context and the inevitable trend of diversification and stylized development of modern architecture.
