Lu Yuan nine academicians, ancestral home Anhui Lai, 1920 was born in Anhui Chu County. Before the war, he went to Nanjing Central University to study. After the Anti-Japanese War, he moved to school and went to Chongqing Central University for study. After graduation, he went to the United States to study in the United States. In 1949, he was awarded a doctorate degree in aviation engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the United States.
