澳星发射之夜,他正躺在北京某医院的病床上。那是一个全中国都在紧张的气氛中焦急等待的夜晚。唯独他的病房里,却显得很静,静得仿佛只能听到他那93岁的心脏在跳动——尽管跳得有些微弱,有些疲累。怎能不累?自93年前他在四川那块贫瘠的土地降生后,匆忙的脚步就从未停歇。年仅20岁的他,曾怀着科技救国的志愿,飘洋过海,踏上了法兰西的土地。新中国成立不久,大病初愈的他,便抱病出征,扛起了中国科技大军的帅旗。他一生都在想着和关注着中国的科技,一生都在想着和关注着中国的科技知识分子。中国的科技和中国的科技知识分子,成了他生命的主旋律。中国要发射“澳星”的事,他自然是早就知道的。还在1988年,中国长城工业公司刚与美国休斯公司签定了发射“澳星”的合同,他就表示出极大的热忱与关注。他知道,中国的火箭打中国的卫星不易,打外国的卫星更难,所以他对打“澳星”的事总是时时牵挂在心。
