在今天的绘画艺术门类中,自画像已成为一个重要的组成部分,在西方世界中,对自画像的研究,无论形式方面还是对其进行本质分析,都已趋于成熟。在作品中留下自己的痕迹,是从艺术创作之初就开始出现的:由签名到具有身份象征意义的一般人物形象再到写实性的肖像,最终发展到以自我表现为绘画主题的独立自画像。至晚从中世纪到文艺复兴开始,作为肖像画的一种,自画像越来越多地受到艺术家与艺术收藏者们的青睐。尽管那时尚未出现“自画像”这一专有名词,但艺术家表现自身形象的诉求已然随着“自我”意识的觉醒越来越强。
Self-portraits have become an important part of today’s painting art genres. In the western world, the study of self-portraits, both in terms of form and in nature, has matured. From late Middle Ages to the beginning of the Renaissance, as a portraits of portraits, self portraits are increasingly favored by artists and art collectors. Although the term “self-portrait” has not yet appeared, the artist’s desire to express his own image is already getting stronger and stronger with the awakening of “self” consciousness.
