Last month, the United States Virginia Mitra laboratory equipped with an atmospheric optical communications system, which can transmit signals up to 300 MHz frequency, communication distance of 600 meters. Mitt Snow and its co-operation, General Operonics, claim the system is the world’s broadest line-of-sight laser delivery system. The system uses two transmitter / receiver units, one of which directs signals at 1300 nm. The video signal exhibits a signal-to-noise ratio of 50 dB while the digital channel shows no measurable bit error at 1 Mbit / s. Mitre Laboratories intends to collect operating data in the coming year in order to analyze the effectiveness of the system. The smoke is expected to produce the worst signal
