衡阳市文物工作队于1990年底在衡阳市郊区烧碱厂基建工地,发掘了17座古代墓葬,出土了56件历史文物。墓葬分布在堆子山山脊及柏树园东坡和羊老山一带。保存完整的墓葬尚有高大的封土堆。据初步调查,该地现有封土堆的墓葬约50座。发掘的墓葬,均为长方形券顶砖室基或长方形砖塘基。券顶砖室墓有双室与单室两种形制。双室墓13座,前后两室,平面呈“凸”字形;前室放置随葬器物,后室放置棺椁尸体。单室墓2座,基室形制与砖塘基相同,平面呈长方形;砖塘墓2座,仅砖室,
Hengyang Cultural Relics Work Team at the end of 1990 in Hengyang suburb of Hengyang sub-base caustic soda plant site, excavation of 17 ancient tombs, unearthed 56 pieces of historical relics.
