The emergence of consumer culture represents the change of the relationship between people and things in contemporary capitalist society. The symbolic value of the goods was deliberately elevated, leading to the worship of goods. The appearance of fetishism originates not only from capital’s invasion of meaning construction but also from consumers’ pursuit of meaningful differences and identification of identities. People are both producers and consumers. The duality of production and consumption is the basis and condition for the development and progress of human society.
