世界各国正在竞相使用新的方法开发合成金刚石。一些科学家认为:合成金刚石薄膜的开发可能是继塑料发现之后材料科学中最重大的进展,合成金刚石涂层将变革许多产品。世界上数百家制造厂沉浸在“金刚石热”中,期望新的金刚石合成法即将引起工业技术革命。 1988年初,日本工业技术院曾用日本清洒(米酒)制成金刚石。美国通用电气公司用威士忌酒重复了这项试验也获成功。同年10月,华盛顿海军研究实验室报告了用沟道气合成金刚石的方法。最近,美国宾州州立大学用普通氧乙炔焊炬制成了合成金刚石。
Countries around the world are racing to use new methods to develop synthetic diamonds. Some scientists believe that the development of synthetic diamond films may be the most significant advance in materials science following the discovery of plastics, and synthetic diamond coatings will revolutionize many products. Hundreds of manufacturing plants in the world are immersed in the “diamond fever” and expect the new diamond synthesis method to arouse the industrial technological revolution. Early 1988, Japan’s National Institute of Technology has used Japan’s sprinkle (rice wine) made of diamond. General Electric Company repeated the test with whiskey and succeeded. In October the same year, the Washington Naval Research Laboratory reported a method of synthesizing diamond with channel gas. Recently, the United States Penn State University with ordinary oxyacetylene welding torch made of synthetic diamond.
