修志与用志两者存在着辩证统一的关系,即修志与用志具有高度统一性,集中表现为:用寓修中、修志为用、修用相通、修用相长,修与用是一体化的过程,进而引出读志用志不仅是对志书质量和价值的最终评判,而且对提高志书质量也具有方法论意义的观点。文章结合志书质量存在的通病,具体阐述了读志用志对提高志书资料、创新体例和加强共性内容记述等方面质量的要求,得出读志用志是提高志书质量的重要外在动力的结论。并试图对修志与用志两者关系反映出的读志用志的一些规律性要求进行理论总结。
