Objective To investigate the effect of astragalus injection on ischemia-reperfusion injury in children with acute intestinal obstruction. Methods Ninety-six children with acute intestinal obstruction who had definite diagnosis and had surgical indications were collected. Including intussusception in 47 cases, 49 cases of incarcerated hernia, were randomly divided into the Astragalus group (50 cases) and the control group (46 cases), the proportion of the two groups of patients was comparable to the control group after infusion of anti-inflammatory treatment, Astragalus group On the basis of this treatment, astragalus injection (0.5 mL · kg-1 · d-1) was administered on the day after surgery and on the 1st and 2nd day for 3 consecutive days. Two groups were given blood before treatment and on the second day after treatment, respectively. Serum levels of superoxide (SOD) and diamine oxidase (DAO) activity were observed astragalus injection intervention. Results The activities of SOD and DAO in the Astragalus membranaceus group before treatment were not significantly different from those in the control group (P> 0.05). The activities of SOD and DAO in the Astragalus membranaceus group were significantly increased before and after treatment, while those in the control group did not change significantly. After 2 groups, SOD and DAO activity difference was statistically significant (Pa <0.01). Conclusion Astragalus injection can significantly improve the activity of SOD and DAO in children with acute intestinal obstruction, and has a significant protective effect on ischemia-reperfusion injury in children with acute intestinal obstruction.
