舌是味觉器官,它能辨别酸、甜、苦、咸等味。舌的不同部位对各种味的刺激的敏感度是不相同的,可用下面实验来验证。取4只玻璃杯和1只水壶,每只玻璃杯内盛半杯凉开水。第1只杯子内放一匙糖,第2只杯子内放小半匙盐,第3只杯子内放适量的阿斯匹林,加以研细调和,第4只杯子内放适量食醋,再用脱脂棉球做几根牙签备用。为防止唾液把试验物转移到口腔的其它部位,在试验之前,用一张干净的吸水纸把舌头擦干,然后用棉花签在糖水溶液中蘸几下,以刚吸饱为度,再拿它依次去触及舌的尖端、中部,边缘和舌根近处,仔细辨别,可发现对甜味最敏感的是舌尖。做完这个试验后,用凉开水漱口,再用吸水纸擦干 Tongue is a taste organ, which can distinguish sour, sweet, bitter, salty and other flavors.
