The equivalent system approach is currently the most efficient way to turn a highly stable aircraft into a familiar and interpretable parameter. This approach allows one to continue using existing military specifications for flight quality to evaluate the installation of aircraft using complex control systems. The purpose of this article is to discuss the principles, methods, and results of using the equivalent system approach.
