The relationship between the amount of dust in the lungs and the pathology of the lungs is the basis for understanding the composition and amount of air pollutants that cause clinical disease in workers. There have been many reports on the dust content of lungs in coal miners who died and their relationship with radiological, pathological and physiological studies. In contrast, there is very little research into the dust content in the lungs of hard rock miners or other occupational groups that have similar environmental exposure, such as flip-flops. It is only in Ontario that there is an opportunity to study the effects of inhalation of silica dust since it has been a practice for all workers exposed to silica dust to perform annual X-ray examination here for many years. Now, there is an annual respiratory function test. This article reports the autopsy of the dust content and radiation in eight of the late hard rock miners
