鉴于乡土树种在环境适应性较之外来树种的良好表现,北京市在始于2012年的平原造林工程中,大量使用了乡土树种,形成了以乡土树种为主体、乔木灌木良好搭配的、结构良好的森林生态系统。对造林工程开展的调查研究表明,利用乡土树种开展平原造林,与外来树种相比可以降低苗木死亡率,提高造林苗木的存活率,保障工程的顺利竣工。大量乡土树种的使用,极大的丰富了工程区的生物多样性,在树种搭配上也表现出良好的均匀性。
