In his long business career, Zheng Guanying has had an important connection with the representatives of the Westernization, Reform and Revolutionary factions in the late Qing society. Starting from this, examining the relationship between Zheng Guanying and the major social strata in the late Qing dynasty can help to re-understand his ideas and make an accurate assessment so as to provide a useful reference for the current reform and opening up.
